Bachchan-SRK battle continues

Bachchan quizzes SRK in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'

The Big B and Shahrukh Khan share a blow hot, blow cold relationship, and the latest salvo in the form of a snide comment has come this time from Bachchan.

Trying hard to be political correct, SRK has said in the past that the two had never had any problems, that Bachchan "inspired many", and that he would never be able to achieve what Bachchan had.

But while this almost saccharine sweetness silenced the rumours of the cold war between the two, it's the Big B this time who has opened another controversy, taking a rather subtle dig at King Khan in his blog. Bachchan says,

"KBC 1 ran non stop for almost two years and then with an adequate break the 2 and the 3. I am unable to understand its failing interest as the graphs show despite the fact that they were presented by bigger and more popular stars, namely Shahrukh".

As is evident, the question posed, albeit disguised as inquisitiveness, points at Shahrukh's credibility. It seems Bachchan doubts the Badshah's star power!

Adding insult to injury Bachchan further takes on SRK's latest offering on TV, 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain'.

His blog continues, "And now to see 'Paanchvi Pass', or as one rival channel executive sniggered, 'Paanchvi Fail', after its not too encouraging numbers, facing relative lower ratings is what I wish to debate…Despite the presence of the biggest name in the business, why its depleted performance?"

Before we go any further into this war of the biggies - let us take a look at the figures that initiated such questioning from the Big B:

The KBC Wars
(1st week - highest figures)

Big B - 19.75
SRK - 12.33

Paanchi Pass ratings
(Highest in 2 weeks)

Week I - 4.61
Week 2 - 2.91

TAM ratings show 'KBC' with the King Khan did not meet with the same enthusiasm as the previous seasons with the Big B. Even the first two weeks' rating of the much-awaited 'Paanchvi Pass' shows that it has not managed to set the screens on fire.

Admittedly SRK, owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders team, has literally had to compete with himself - what with IPL fever catching on, most television shows have been suffering. But the Big B seems to have jumped at the chance to get back at an old rival.

SRK once insisted to the media, "I feel happy that I can breathe in the same air as him. Whatever Mr Bachchan says about me, he says with love and credibility - because he has worked with me and so he knows what kind of person I am."

Now that the Big B has indeed questioned his credibility and not so lovingly - we wonder what the King Khan will have to say this time around.
